Current Canada Student Status

 






Recently there has been a lot of confusion regarding the status of Indian students planning for their higher education in Canada.

As a director of the company The Overseas Consultant based in India, I would like to state the following facts which can be verified from the Indian and Canadian government websites.

India has stopped issuing Visas to Canadian passport holders throughout the world. However Canada has not banned issuing Visa to Indian tourist or Indian students. This means there has been no negative effect on the student Visa process for Canada. In fact there has been no delay in Visa processing by IRCC, which is the Visa issuing authority of Canada.  

We at TOC have been filing for Student Visa with IRCC, regularly since the last 2 weeks and have been receiving Visa Approvals for those students whose Visa was filed in the month of August 2023.

I have also been in touch with students who are currently pursuing their PGDM/Master’s in Canada and as per their response Life is absolutely normal in Canada for everyone. In fact it is a media hype in India that has created a confusion and fear in the minds of Indian parents and students.

Canada's One-Year Masters Programs With a Three-Year Work Permit:  New regulations for foreign students studying in Canada as of 2024 were implemented by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Along with other new special measures for international students coming to complete master's degrees, the IRCC established a cap on the number of international students entering Canada each year.
