It looks like student visas for Canada could be put on hold for up to six months

If you're an Indian student looking to study in Canada, you might have to wait a bit longer after 41 diplomats left the country and services were shut down in three Indian cities.

a lot of students in  India are considering places like the US or Europe right now, especially after a Khalistani leader threatened Indians.

Students from India who are planning on studying in Canada are now facing a long wait for their visa applications after Canada cut back on its diplomatic staff last week, according to education consultants. They said that the process of getting a Canadian student visa can take up to 6 months or more.

Canada has recalled 41 diplomats from India ahead of an October 20 deadline imposed by New Delhi to limit Canada's diplomatic presence in the South Asian nation. Canada has suspended visa and consular services at its Chandigarh consulate, Mumbai consulate, and Bengaluru consulate, and they'll only be available at the Canadian Embassy in New Delhi.

Relations between India and Canada have been on the downhill slide ever since Justin Trudeau accused Indian agents of being involved in the killing of a prominent Khalistani extremist in British Columbia last month. India denied the accusations.

The overseas consultant has been inundated with inquiries from students regarding the availability of their planned university courses in January and May.

Despite this, IRCC Canada reported that 89% of India's applications were processed through the international network.

Canada hosts an impressive population of Indian students, accounting for 41 percent of the country's total international student population.

Canada’s visa processes continue to follow established guidelines despite the diplomatic fallout, consultants said. This reassurance should come as a relief to Indian students who, despite facing delays, can continue with their regular visa applications in pursuit of their academic aspirations, they said.

We reported earlier that many Indian students are considering alternatives such as the United States or Australia, particularly after a khalistani  leader threatened Indians.

Of course, changing your study location abroad is not that simple and requires re-evaluating things like tuition fees, accommodation costs, and day-to-day costs.
