According to data updated by the department on December 20, 2023, the Canadian immigration backlog has decreased by 46,200 (-4.93%), according to the latest report from the IRCC.

As of November 30, 2023, this Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) data relates to applications for citizenship, permanent residency, and temporary residency.

For the first time since April 2023, the backlog of immigration to Canada for citizenship, permanent residency, and temporary residency has nearly decreased.

Any application for citizenship, immigration, or a temporary visa that takes longer to process than the average service level established by the immigration department is referred to as the immigration backlog.

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), there was an overall backlog of 890,300 applications for citizenship, immigration, and temporary visas, and the processing of these applications was taking longer than usual.

Applications that take longer than this are categorized as backlogs, and IRCC aims to process 80% of applications within the department's service standards.
