A new shark will be joining the judges panel for the current third season of Shark Tank India, the show announced on Monday. Billionaire businessman and film producer Ronnie Screwvala, who founded UpGrad and RSVP Movies and previously oversaw UTV Motion Pictures, is joining the famous reality show.

"After the unparalleled success of the first two seasons, Shark Tank India is poised to set new benchmarks in the Indian startup ecosystem with its highly anticipated third season," said a statement from SonyLIV, the streaming service for Shark Tank. Sony LIV is now prepared to add a vibrant new Shark, Ronnie Screwvala, to Shark Tank India 3, therefore intensifying the entrepreneurial zeal. Screwvala, who is also the Chairperson and Co-Founder of UpGrad, contributes a plethora of knowledge and perspectives to the esteemed Shark panel for the forthcoming season.

With an estimated net worth of Rs 12800 crore ($1.55 billion), Ronnie Screwvala is the sole billionaire in Bollywood and the richest individual in the industry. In the 1970s, the filmmaker began his career as a toothbrush manufacturer. In 1981, he made his debut in the entertainment industry by starting a cable TV business. He started UTV in 1990 with just Rs 37,000, and it went on to become a significant television production company, producing shows like Shanti and Sea Hawks. With films like Barfi, Chennai Express, Fashion, Jodhaa Akbar, Swades, and many more, UTV also entered the film industry. Disney purchased Screwvala's portion of the business in 2012 for a sum above one billion dollars. After two years, The businessman started RSVP Pictures, which has made movies like Kedarnath and Uri, among others. In addition to three Filmfare Awards, he has received a National Award as a producer for Rang De Basanti.

But Screwvala engages in other commercial ventures besides film. In addition, he founded UpGrad, a $2.25 billion corporation. Together with Mayank Kumar, Phalgum Kompalli, and Ravijot Chug, three IIT grads, the film producer and entrepreneur launched upGrad. The online learning platform was established in 2015. People can pursue higher education degrees on upGrad, with specializations in data analytics, digital marketing, and other subjects.
