Two Immigration Programs to Canada That Will Accept
New Applications in 2024:



With a restricted number of spots, two Canada immigration pathways will begin to accept applications for permanent residency from new applicants in January 2024.These pathways, which have a cap on the number of available spots each year, grant permanent residency (PR) to candidates who satisfy specific requirements.

It is usually a good idea to get ready in advance to make sure that applicants have all the necessary materials and fulfill all the requirements in order to be accepted into one of these programs.

Pilot Programs for Caregivers

Household Assistance There are only a few spaces available in two highly anticipated programs each year: the Caregiver Pilot and the Home Childcare Provider Pilot.

Once the program is open to new applicants, these spots fill up quickly.

In 2023, the combined number of applications for both pilot programs in their respective categories was capped at 5,500.

Additionally, the IRCC has lowered the qualifying requirement for in-Canada caregiver provider pilots from the previous 24-month experience to a 12-month experience.

Under both of the caregivers pilots, there are the following two categories:

Gaining Experience Category

Direct to Permanent Residency (PR) Category

This category is for applicants if they have not worked “OR” have less than 24 months of experience in any of the occupations under NOC 44100 or NOC 44101.

*For in-Canada caregivers, this requirement is 12 months of experience.

This category is for applicants if they have total of 24 months or more experience (in last 36 months) in any of the occupations under NOC 44100 or NOC 44101

*For in-Canada caregivers, this requirement is 12 months of experience.

Eligible candidates get work permit to accumulate 24 months of experience in Canada and can than apply for Direct Permanent residency after gaining the full experience and becoming eligible under Direct to Permanent Residency Category

*For in-Canada caregivers, this requirement is 12 months of experience.

To apply for PR, applicants need:
1. At least 24 months of full-time work experience in Canada in the last 36 months
2. Post-secondary education of at least 1 year
3. Any past experience or training that demonstrates candidate is able to do the work described in job offer.

*For in-Canada caregivers, this requirement is 12 months of experience.

To apply for a work permit, applicants need:
1. A valid full-time Job Offer  
2. CLB level 5 in English or French (IELTS = Reading 4 and rest of the modules 5)
3. Post-secondary education of at least 1 year
4. Any past experience or training that demonstrates the candidate is able to do the work described in the job offer

Child care live-in caregiver
Child care provider – private home
Nanny
Parent’s helper
Babysitter – fitness centre
Babysitter – shopping centre

Attendant for persons with disabilities – home care
Family caregiver
Home support worker
Live-in caregiver – seniors
Personal aide – home support
Personal care attendant – home care
Respite worker – home support

 

Pilot Program for Agri-Food

On January 1, 2024, the annual cap for the Agri-Food Pilot, another alluring but selective immigration program, will be reset.

 

Under the Agri-Food Pilot, IRCC reviews up to 2,750 applications for permanent residence annually.

With new modifications on May 18, 2023, this pilot will run until May 14, 2025.In addition, family members of applicants may submit an open work permit application if they have received an acknowledgement of receipt letter.

For those with at least a year's worth of cumulative, non-seasonal, full-time work in the previous three years in one or more of the listed occupations below, the Agri-Food Pilot Program offers a route to permanent residency.

 

NOC 63201: Retail and wholesale butchers

Retail and wholesale meat cutters and fishmongers under NOC 65202

NOC 94141: Industrial meat cutters and butchers, workers who prepare poultry, and related occupations

Agricultural service providers and farm managers are covered by NOC 82030.

Operators of farm machinery and specialized livestock workers fall under NOC 84120.

Livestock labourers (NOC 85100); workers in the food and beverage processing industry (NOC 95106); and farm supervisors and agricultural service contractors (NOC 82030).

Livestock labourers (NOC 85100); harvesting labourers (NOC 85101); and farm supervisors and agricultural service contractors (NOC 82030).

The language proficiency requirements for CLB Level 4 in English and French for the Agri-Food Pilot are relatively low.

 

According to education credential assessment (ECA), only a high school diploma is required in terms of education.

 

In the event that an employer does not provide the experience letter, Canada is now also accepting a union reference letter.
