A significant modification has been made to the passport application procedure, and it will go into effect today, August 5, 2018. Under this, DigiLocker can be used for verification.

Passport Verification Procedure: 

The procedure for applying for a passport in order to travel abroad has undergone significant modification. To apply for a new passport, applicants must now visit the government website DigiLocker. DigiLocker must be used to upload all documents. Applicants can use the official website, passportindia.gov.in, to submit their online passport applications once the necessary paperwork has been uploaded.

No need to keep a copy of the paperwork with you


The Ministry of External Affairs has informed applicants that they will not need to bring paper copies of any documents for the application procedure if they utilize DigiLocker to upload them. In addition to cutting down on processing time, this step should improve the standard of the passport application procedure.

Why was this regulation introduced?


The passport application procedure has been accelerated with the usage of DigiLocker. Additionally, in order to lessen the requirement for physical document verification, it has been introduced at Passport Seva Kendras and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) in various places.
