New Zealand Visa: Immigrant and student applications are now processed entirely online

New Zealand Visa: Immigrant and student applications are now processed entirely online:

Currently, applicants for a Permanent Resident Visa in New Zealand must submit their applications entirely online. Starting in January 2024, the New Zealand government will be accepting online applications for the Permanent Resident Visa.

Applications for resident visas, such as those for permanent residency (PRV), secondary or subsequent residency (SSRV), and variation of travel conditions (VOTC), must be submitted online. Applying online eliminates the need to provide hard copies of credentials, including passports. Paper applications won't be accepted unless there are specific conditions or an exception. Following your application, you will be able to check its status online.

Before applying, confirm that you meet all the requirements. Your application will probably be rejected if you submit it before you are qualified, so you will have to reapply when you fulfill all requirements. There will be an additional processing cost that you must pay.

There are currently no online applications available for other permanent resident visa categories, such as the Afghan Emergency Resettlement Permanent Resident Visa and the Global Impact Permanent Resident Visa. You should keep using the paper form if you are qualified for these visas.

You can learn the status of your application and when it will be decided once you submit it. After your application has been submitted, you are done. If they require further information from you, New Zealand Immigration will get in touch with you.
Applying online is required for the following visas.

Employer-Accredited Work Visa
Residence Visa with Active Investor Plus
Care Worker Employment to Resident Permit
Visa for Permanent Residency
Category of Skilled Migrant Resident Visa
Visa for Residence Straight to Residence
Visitor's Visa
Work Permit for Resident Visa
Working vacation permits

Visa for Permanent Residency
If you have held a resident visa for longer than two years, you are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa. With this visa, you can enter and exit New Zealand as well as live there permanently. In New Zealand, you can work, live, and study. You can travel to and from New Zealand whenever you choose with a Permanent Resident Visa, providing that your partner and any dependant children under the age of 24 are included in your application.

Once a resident visa has been obtained, the following step is often to get a permanent resident visa. A Permanent Resident Visa permits unlimited re-entry into New Zealand, but a Resident Visa has travel restrictions that limit a person's ability to return as a resident until a specific date.
